Career History 

  • Senior Analyst (Oct 2022 - Present)

    Oversaw a team of four responsible for sample analysis and reporting.
    Created, validated, and updated analytical methods.
    Represented the company on an international panel of scientists involved in writing and reviewing guidance on forensic analysis.
    Managed health and safety for the site, conducted COSHH risk assessments, and implemented monthly refresher training for laboratory staff.
    Key achievements: developed, validated, and wrote the relevant documentation for a new authenticity test method (including creating a database of >200 samples) in one week.

  • Laboratory Analyst (Jan 2020 - Sept 2022)

    Independently performed operation and maintenance (routine and corrective) on sample preparation systems and analysers.
    Processed, analysed, and reported sample data within tight turnaround times.
    Monitored quality control data, including proficiency testing and accreditation requirements.
    Key achievements: reduced rate of sample batch failure by 4% while increasing sample throughput on instruments within 3 months.

  • Laboratory Technician (Oct 2019 - Jan 2020)

    Responsible for performing sample intake and recording information on the laboratory information management system.
    Performed sample processing and preparation for analysis.
    Undertook regular and consumables checks, purchasing new materials as appropriate.
    Key achievements: personally responsible for checking in up to 80 new samples daily before processing and distributing them to relevant departments and subcontractors.
